Amazing stat

Amazing statistic today in Sports Illustrated. Of the current 1,042 players and managers in the major leagues, 26 of them have college degrees.

26 out of 1,042.

That is .02% of players or managers in the big leagues.

This might be one of the more amazing statistics that I've seen.

I'd like to see this done in other sports as well. My guess would be baseball has the lowest %.

WOW...

KSU scandal

Great read from Joe Posnanski's blog about the KSU football scandal.

Snyder-Prince

This is a great blurb about KSU's former head coach, Ron Prince...

From Joe Posnanski's blog...

Then, the team flattened out. Snyder stepped down — we’re slowly getting to the story — and the Wildcats hired a Virginia assistant coach named Ron Prince. From the first day, it seemed like a strange hire. Prince was from Kansas. But — at least from afar — he seemed utterly un-Kansas State. He seemed aloof, maybe arrogant. He seemed pretty certain that he had the answers. This was quite the opposite of Snyder, who was always quick to remind us that he was not a very smart man. I like Kansas State quite a lot — my wife went there — and I think there’s a certain Midwestern level-headedness about the place. Prince did not seem to fit that at all.

USA! USA! USA!

I remember setting my alarm for 3am in Gypsum, KS this past year so that I could wake up and root on team USA in the gold medal game.

I've often joke that I only root for 3 "teams"...The KC Royals, Tiger Woods and the team that I coach. Team USA is definitely a fourth. No matter the sport. So I only root for 4 "teams"

Watching Team USA play basketball last summer was a true treat. I hope this article is true and they maintain that edge in 2010.

USA! USA! USA!
