Most people saw this coming. Felton would have been fired last year but he managed to get his team to play remarkable basketball in the SEC tournament, which finished off with a trip to the NCAA tournament because of the automatic birth for winning the SEC.
Obviously there was a ton of momentum that the University was hopeful could be built upon.
Here is what I'm wondering...
Felton was given 5 seasons and at about the last week of the 5th season, the administration was set to fire this guy. Then he makes an improbable run to get his team into the NCAA tournament and they keep him.
What would the reaction of been had they just fired him after the NCAA tournament and said, "Based upon the 5 years of evidence and not the 1 week of excellence we decided it was best to part ways with Dennis". How would people have reacted to that? Did THAT much really change in the 2 week magical run that could be saved?!
